General Care and NursingDrooling
Drooling
People often worry when they see saliva stringing down from the corners of a dog’s mouth. This is very common and frequently occurs while he is waiting for his food, especially in breeds with pendulous lips. The sight or the smell of fresh food is enough to start the mouth watering until it spills over. Drooling is common, too, when a dog feels sick at the stomach, such as when he rides in the car. Teething can also cause drooling, as can a foreign object caught between two teeth. If the drooling continues, however, have your veterinarian examine the dog’s mouth and throat.
