Adhesive tape , 1-inch and 2-inch rolls
Gauze bandage, 1-inch and 2-inch rolls
Rectal thermometer
Sterile gauze pads

Triangular muslin bandage
2-inch and 3-inch strips of clean cloth, 2-4 feet long
Safety pins
Wooden ruler or tongue depressor for use with a tourniquet
Wooden paint-mixing sticks for splints.
3% hydrogen peroxide
Kaopectate
Pepto-bismol
Antibacterial ointment for skin ( Bacitracin)
Plastic or nylon eyedropper or dose syringe
Eye wash
Razor blade
Ice bags ( or chemical ice pack)
Empty distilled water or gallon milk containers for holding hot water
Blanket
Towels
4-5 feet of ¼ or 3/8 – inch nylon rope for restraint,
Wire cutters
Pilers
Cotton batting
Tweezers
Disposable enema : to relieve constipation.
Ophthalmic ointment / drops
Activated-charcoal tablets or powder : to absorb poisons.
A motion-sickness preparation : to prevent car – or airsickness.
Any medication your dog takes.
Maalox or other coating-type antacid.
Kaopectate, Donnagel, or other antidiarrheal preparation.
Aspirin : for relief of pain. Never give on an empty stomach; add to food or milk. Dosage is based on body weight; your veterinarian will advise how much to give.
Children’s medicine spoon or syringe ( with needle removed) : for administering liquids.
Rectal thermometer ; petroleum jelly is a good lubricant for the thermometer.
Tweezers or forceps.
Eyedropper.
Blunt-tipped scissor : for cutting hair away from wounds, especially on hairy dogs.
In snake country, carry a snakebite kit of anti-venom. It may mean the difference between life and death for your dog. If you don’t, at least carry a suction cup and a sealed packet of razor blades.
