Bichon Frise 12-18 pounds. Affectionate, playful. Needs attention.

Boston Terrier 15-25 pounds. Very good family pet. Somewhat intolerant of young children. Often needs Caesarean section for delivery of pups.

Bulldog 40-50 pounds. Wonderful family pet. Excellent with children and strangers. Needs little grooming. Has whelping problems and breathing problems.

Chow Chow 50-60 pounds. Only dog with blue-black tongue. Very powerful. Devoted family pet. Does not trust strangers.

Dalmatian 50-55 pounds. Very intelligent. Loyal house pet. Needs plenty of exercise. Best with older children.

Lhasa Apso 15-16 pounds. Beautiful small dog. Excellent house pet. Very independent. Difficult to train. Not always good with small children.

Poodle

Standard 45-55 pounds.

Miniature 16 pounds.

Toy 7 pounds.

Intelligent active, alert animal. Easily trained. Some miniatures and toys are too excitable to be suitable for families with young children, but standards are very good with children. Sheds little, but requires a lot of coat care, including clipping.
